Longmont Photographer Warps to Ward

Ella is a very intelligent, fun loving young women with a bright future ahead of her. She was raised in Ward, Colorado - an interesting town with a lot of history.   It's a very remote area with steep dirt roads, some washed away because of the flood. Ward means a lot to Ella, and her mother Holly who commissioned me to photograph her daughter's senior portraits.   I traveled up to Ward, Colorado because of the nostalgic location and it turned out to be a really unique picturesque photography set. Old barns, abandoned mines, rusty pickup trucks and lots and lots of snow.  I followed Ella around as she gave me a mini tour of her favorite spots, an artist herself - she had an eye for choosing prime locations.

Zippers and Buttons. That describes her style, according to Ella. To me, that means grungy, fresh, detailed, layered.  I kept those words in mind when I set up my shots - what angle to shoot at, what lens to choose, how to help Ella pose. The natural reflection of the sunlight hitting the snow gave the portraits a very soft look. Sometimes I used a diffused off camera flash to help pop Ella from the background.  Ella and Holly were looking for a more fashionable approach to Ella's Senior Portraits - something of a celebration for Ella's approach to adulthood.

I met Holly at the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. Her business is Permanent Hair Removal located in Downtown Longmont.  http://www.easehairremoval.com/

"Thanks again for photographing Ella. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my money. I am very pleased on top of thrilled! Feels good. You are more than talented. It will be fun to watch you sky rocket."  Holly Running Rabbit
